Recruitment of Constable in Central Police Organisation

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is conducting the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for recruitment to the posts of Constable (General Duty) in Central Police Organization. SSC had advertised for recruitment to the posts of Constable in the month of December 2011. Commission invited the online and offline application for recruitment to 48802 posts of Constable in BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB & Assam Rifle. The number of vacancy are tentative and are likely to increase up to 90,000. It means it is major recruitment for employment in Central Police Organizations.

Selection Process

Selection of Candidates for recruitment to the posts of Constable will be made on the basis of Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET). PST & PET will be conducted by the commission in consultation with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Admit Card for appearing in the PET & PST are being sent to all eligible candidates and test will be held as per schedule mentioned in the call letter.

Physical Standard Test : All candidates who have applied for the post of Constable will have to appear in the PST. Minimum Height for Male candidates is 170 cms while for the female candidate it is 157 cms. Male candidates unexpanded chest should measure at least 80 cms and minimum expansion of chest to qualify is 5 cms for male candidates. Weight of applicant should be in proportion to height and age as per the medical standard.

There is relaxation in the height, chest measurement etc. for candidates belonging to hilly areas and details of categories of candidates who have been provided the exemption can be read from the advertisement.

Physical Efficiency Test : PET is one of the benchmark for screening the candidates for recruitment in the armed forces/ police/ para military forces etc. PET for the selection of candidates in Border Security Force, Indo Tibet Border Police Force, Shastra Seema Bal, Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Rifle etc. will be conducted by the designated CPO as per schedule mentioned in the admit card. The criteria for qualifying in the PET is as given below.

Male Candidate : To qualify in the Long Jump and High Jump a maximum of 3 chance will be given to the candidate. Minimum qualifying criteria for long jump is 11 feet while for the high jump it is three and half feet.

Female Candidates : Female Candidates appearing for the PET will also get maximum of three chance to qualify in the long jump and high jump. But criteria for long jump and high jump with regard to female candidates will be 9 feet and 3 feet respectively.

Running

Male and Female candidates will have to complete the race within the stipulated time to qualify. Male candidates will have to complete One Mile race in 6.30 Minutes while the female candidates will have to complete a race of 800 meters in 04 minutes.

There will be no Physical Efficiency Test for candidates belonging to ex servicemen category.

Written Test

Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of PET, PST, Written Test and Medical Examination. Only those candidates who qualify in the PET & PST will be called for written test. Written Test will be held by the commission on 22 April 2012 from 10 AM to 12 PM. Written Test will comprise a maximum of 100 questions and it will carry a maximum of 100 marks. There will be four sections and each section will carry maximum of 25 questions.

1. Part-A : General Intelligence & Reasoning

2. Part-B : General Knowledge (GK) & General Awareness (GA)

3. Part-C : Elementary Mathematics

4. Part-D : English/Hindi

All questions will be of objective type and candidates will have to choose the right answer from the given options. Candidates belonging to General & Ex Servicemen category must secure at least 35% and SC/ST/OBC candidates a minimum of 33% marks in the written test to qualify.This is the minimum cut off percentage and it can be varied by the commission.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

Those who had applied for the post of Constable in the Central Police Organisation advertised by the Staff Selection Commission are being issued Call Letter for appearing in the PST & PET. Those who do not received the hall ticket / admit card for PST & PET then same can be downloaded from the website of SSC. BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, Assam Rifle and SSB will be made on the basis of merit and choice of candidates.
